Dublin, Calif. – January 11, 2023 – Azure Biosystems Inc. is pleased to announce the launch of the chemiSOLO, a high-performance, personal chemiluminescent imaging system that is compact in size and economical in cost. The chemiSOLO can be controlled by a smartphone, tablet, or laptop through a novel web-based interface, which eliminates the need for investment in a dedicated computer.
Our uniquely designed chemiSOLO eliminates the need for darkrooms and associated maintenance and hazard costs. chemiSOLO brings the darkroom to the benchtop enabling researchers to image their Western blot using their mobile smartphone.
Lisa Isailovic, VP of Marketing, Azure Biosystems
The chemiSOLO imaging system’s patent-pending design achieves industry leading sensitivity in detecting chemiluminescent blots by use of a back-thinned and cooled 6.29 MP camera and F0.9 lens. To support other steps in the Western blotting workflow, chemiSOLO also offers LED lights for visible imaging of samples such as Coomassie-stained gels, colorimetric Western blots, and pre-dyed color protein markers.

The innovative web-based control software eliminates the need for a dedicated computer. Scientists can place their sample in the chemiSOLO and then use their personal phone, tablet or computer to connect to Wi-Fi, navigate to the web-based software, and capture their image. The image is downloaded to the device, enabling a simple transfer of data to whatever storage method the lab uses. Further analysis of the image can be done on a computer with Azure’s analysis software, AzureSpot Pro.
The chemiSOLO is designed to make high-quality digital imaging accessible to all labs, facilitating the move away from film for documenting chemiluminescent Western blots. Digital imaging provides numerous benefits over film including easy re-imaging to find optimal exposure times and simplified analysis of digitized data.
chemiSOLO will begin shipping in January 2023.
