Application Scientist – Imaging (Dublin, CA)

Overview

Azure Biosystems is an innovative company that develops, manufactures, and markets innovative proteomic and genomic platforms for the life sciences. The company is looking for a skilled, enthusiastic Application Scientist to join a fast-paced, high growth environment.

This is an excellent position for a scientist looking to move from the bench to the marketing/product side of life science.

Professional Qualifications
Education
Ph.D., MS or BS in biology or related field with a minimum of 2 years lab bench experience in a research laboratory.
Primary Job Responsibilities
  • Leading development of the Azure Imaging Line, the Sapphire Biomolecular Imager line, and the reagents product line through building business cases, collecting VOC, writing product requirements, developing go-to-market plans, and launching products
  • Systematically developing testing protocols for imaging instrumentation
  • Evaluating new products for imaging through testing in house and through collaborative work with customers in the field
  • Providing design feedback on instrumentation workflow, using voice of the customer
  • Developing application specific white papers
  • Educating and train sales force on proteomics techniques
  • Supporting marketing team in developing marketing material that effectively represent company’s products, service, and prospects
  • Assisting exhibition booths at trade shows and conferences, up to 30% travel
  • Continual education of developments in the field of proteomics
Position Responsibilities
Specific

We seek a “Western blot guru” to join our product development team. You will work within a highly dynamic marketing and R&D group and will be responsible for leading the application development for imaging technologies, educating the global sales team, and supporting customers.

We expect applicants to be experts in Western blotting techniques techniques, and to have extensive hands on experience with gel electrophoresis and imaging.

  • 2+ years hands-on experience with performing Western blotting and imaging Western blots
  • Experience imaging Western blots with various different detection platforms
  • “Power-user” level of understanding of Western blot analysis software
  • High energy and self-motivated, with strong desire to make an impact
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
  • Must have flexibility in working hours and available for 30% national & international business travel.
General
  • Manage time effectively, meet personal goals and work effectively with other team members.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.
  • Be able to lift up to 40 lbs
  • Excellent general computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office

Position is based in Dublin, CA. This is a full-time position. Compensation package includes a competitive base salary based on experience, generous commission, and other relevant benefits.
